Client Overview
The Challenge: Drowning in Data, Starving for Insights
The operator possessed a wealth of data regarding their assets, but it was becoming unmanageable and unusable in its current state. They faced a “visibility crisis” where critical integrity threats were obscured by the sheer volume of unstructured information.
Key Pain Points:
- The Invisible Threat Landscape: Their database contained thousands of recorded anomalies. However, there was no high-level visualization of this data. Management lacked a holistic view of asset health, making it nearly impossible to identify systemic threats or recurring failure patterns efficiently.
- Unstructured Data Chaos: The foundational data lacked a consistent structure, making querying, analysis, and cross-referencing a slow, manual process.
- Legacy Documentation Compliance: Thousands of critical engineering drawings (P&IDs and Isometrics) did not adhere to modern guidelines, creating inconsistencies and hindering digital transition efforts.
The Solution: Intelligent Digitization and AI-Powered Visualization
We partnered with the client to move beyond simple data storage and transition into intelligent asset management. Our approach focused on creating a structured digital foundation and overlaying it with powerful visualization tools.
- Establishing the Digital Foundation
We began by converting thousands of legacy P&IDs and inspection isometrics into intelligent, digital formats. Concurrently, we implemented a rigorous structured data framework to ensure all engineering information was consistent, searchable, and compliant with guidelines.
- Visualizing Threats with Connect AI
The most transformative step was bridging the gap between data and visual context. We used an API connection to link their existing integrity database directly with our Connect AI software. This allowed thousands of previously hidden database anomalies to be visualized dynamically on live, digital P&IDs. Engineers could finally see where the problems were in the context of the whole system.
- Enabling Risk-Based Inspection (RBI)
To move from reactive to proactive maintenance, we developed specialized analytical tools. This included the creation of dedicated Isolation Modules and Corrosion Circuit Modules, providing the necessary framework to conduct accurate Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) assessments.
The Impact: Moving from Reactive to Proactive
- Holistic Threat Visibility: Management now has an immediate, clear view of asset health across the facility, allowing for faster, risk-informed decision-making.
- Optimized Maintenance: The shift to data-driven RBI allows resources to be focused on high-risk areas rather than adhering to rigid, inefficient schedules.
- Future-Ready Operations: With structured data and digitized drawings, their infrastructure is ready for advanced analytics and future technological integration.
